Stock Market Opening February-12 2009

Wall Street is still juggling concerns about the U.S. economy even as Congress has struck a deal on a $789 billion economic stimulus plan.

Investors are looking past the stimulus plan and mixed economic readings Thursday to cautious earnings forecasts and lingering questions about the health of the banking sector.

After an intense focus on Washington this week on the stimulus plan and the Treasury Department's revision to its financial rescue plan, investors are now finding little reason to be optimistic.

In the first minutes of trading, the Dow Jones industrial average is down 155 at 7,785. The Standard & Poor's 500 index is down 18 at 816 and the Nasdaq composite index is down 25 at 1,506.
