U.S. Stock-Index Futures Extend Gains September-30-2009

U.S. stock-index futures extended gains after the government said the economy shrank less than originally estimated in the second quarter.

Futures on the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index climbed 0.6 percent to 1,060.7 at 8:32 a.m. in New York after the Commerce Department said the economy shrank at a 0.7 percent annual rate from April through June, the best performance in more than a year.
