The battle of Bunker Hill was easily the most costly battle of the war for the British army. The British army during the battle made up around 3,500 men. When the battle was over, they had lost 226 dead and over 900 wounded, nearly half of the force engaged. In officers alone, the British lost 19 killed, and 70 wounded, a full quarter of the officer casualties for the ENTIRE war!
The Battle of Brandywine is generally considered the most costly battle of the war for the Continental army. The American army, 14,600 strong, took loses of 200 killed, and between 700-800 wounded, along with 400 men taken prisoner
